Awesome episode, felt like only 5 minutes to me. I've heard a lot about the 3D titans; personally I feel like they look quite nice.

Interesting start. Focusing solely on the armour titan/warriors side to start off. I like it. This is gonna be good cause its a full on war instead of the survival and we have characters we know on both sides.

Can't wait to see the new cool Eren.

it was jarring at first because i wasn't expecting to a different cast and then i was somehow thinking it is the past, nope it's the future/a timeskip..

Gabi's tactic was smart and gusty.

seeing descendants of Ymir falling from the aircraft to become titans, felt like kamikazes, jeez

Yes! Yes! Yes! Another years of waiting, but we are finally here, and I have 10 episodes to go. Yes, CGI was bit too obvious and low framerate when it comes to titans, but otherwise I think quality was top notch like old days, I could get more of this Great war stuff before going back to main story, but WE HAVE THIC PLOT TO FOLLOW.

Incognito Jeanbo at the end, just delicious.

I hate it when anime/manga that I enjoyed ends, especially when there could be much longer plot and when I love main heroine :P

I wish I had magic glasses that let me see real world in anime colors ;)

I don't know whats happening but it was a spectacle of a first episode. And also I think I get why people complained about the CGI it felt like a 15-20fps fest lol but probably I'll get used to it.

An awesome start for the first episode, been a while since I saw AoT, this was the perfect comeback, no problem with the focus on a new cast and location so far, this was handled really well and I dug how it portrayed the atrocity of war itself.

10/10 episode to me.

TBH I got lost in the story, it's like watching totally different anime. Nothing makes sense anymore. I can't even comprehend the timeline we are in - known characters are suddenly old and have flashbacks of other people's memories etc. I don't care about this anime enough to study wiki summaries, can't enjoy it anymore because of the weird turn of events.

Well, not bad for a first episode, I was afraid how I'd like the work of a new studio, but I think it's great.
And was I really thinking for a moment "Reiner, don't die."? Wtf did happen to me? :D
The OP is not my favorite, but I need to get used to it, it's somehow scary.
I don't really like modern wars, so I hope I won't be disappointed further. And I hope I will see my favorite characters again soon (Jean, was it you?).

Great start to the final season of the series. I'm guessing MAPPA will be using mostly CG for the titans. It'll take some getting used to, but I have full faith MAPPA will continue to improve as the series progresses.

Definitely! I wasn't really used to the CG, but I loved everything else ahaha. OP wasn't really my favorite, s2 OP will always be le cool.

Immaculate first episode. Killer animation. I was just watching really old anime from the 40's to 60's, and am fascinated with how we've progressed. I think since season one, AOT has proved its superiority in animation over almost every other concievable series.

And I don't think anyone should have gripes with CG animation. This first episode waas an example of CG done right. And it meshes well with the 2D stuff. I also saw mentions of 2.5D -- and even though I half-understand what it means, I'd say it was done well.

Right off the bat, the character designs looked a bit different. When I spoiled the post-timeskip designs for the cast of the prior seasons, I also felt they looked different, and not just because they were older. Whatever the case, it seems there has been an animation STUDIO change, so I don't know if my observations are correlated. Very surprising. I wonder why the initial studio would give up AOT and allow another to handle it. I don't know much about animation studios, but I feel like the more AOT work a studio does, the more street cred they get.

.-.-.-.-.-.

I was somewhat apprehensive to get back into the series. From the previews and promotionals and minimal research I've done before watching, I knew full and well that they wouldn't pick up back on Paradise Island. I knew there would be an immediate arc from Marley's perspective -- something the show had never done before. On top of that was a time skip AND, irl, it had been a year or so since the last season so my memory was fading. With no recap episode or anything, I had to relearn all of the lore.

I don't know how they did it. One of the most critically acclaimed, popular, role model anime threw a curveball and began a highly anticipated season with an entirely new cast and story. What a bold, gutsy move. And wow was it well-executed. I was confused for the first couple minutes but immediately gathered my bearings. Halfway in I was hooked and interested in the characters.

First episode of the season and we're already met with GRIPPING action. The battle against the city, from the Warrior Titans to the in-person combat in general were CLEAN.

There were sad moments too, even though we weren't attached to any of the victims. Like when the 800 soldiers were about to be sent out as a "suicide squad," similar to when Erwin and Marlow died in a charge. Made me think back to that scene. Or when perceivably Eldian citizens were restrained in bags and dropped from the airship.

I'm sure weebs are already squealing over Gabi. She's definitely the friskiest character in the entire series, topping Sasha or Connie's initial appearances. I almost thought her personality was a bit out of character for the show but than I remembered Hange, which is where the familiarity seems to come from.

Interesting show though. It began as some largescale mystery, a thriller/horror/apocalypse kind of anime. It gradually became political and civil -- a nation in conflict with itself. Now that the full lore has been revealed, it looks like the final season will look at international war. It's cool how they have an Arab-inspired race in this episode. This is the very first depiction of characters with "darker skin" tones, and I believe there will be more.

I see that this season is widely acclaimed. I've seen almost no complaints from viewers. It feels good to be 'included', in the present, in what will probably become known as one of the greatest anime of all time. After it concludes, I think it'll be greatly covered in weeb textbooks. There will probably be a thorough scholarly analysis. It'll become the "Neon Genesis Evangelion" of the 21st century. I objectively think this is as 10 out of 10 as an anime can get. And, yeah, I'm making this conclusion only after the first episode. This show has never went downhill and I can tell this final season will continue to keep the torch ablaze.

So basically when Marley lost the Colossal and the Female Titan, other nations saw that as a sign of weakness. So the Mid East Allied Forces (another nation) declared war on them. That was the war we just saw in this episode

A very different setting and characters starting from here this is getting interesting enough, And two notable characters' voices came into my mind, Damn the OP sounds nice to hear

Gabi's a tough and confident one I must say she's definitely going to outshine the others in terms of screen time

The CGI looks decent and in terms of animation MAPPA is on a good start with this hope we'll see more of it.

I love this episode. Call me a Mappa retard all you want toxic fans but I love the animation and I'm already used to any CG because I watched loads of them that applies to it, also not saying it's better than WIT as both of them are respectively impeccable. No fillers thank god and some Falco and Gabi introduction here: Falco is some casual guy who probably needs to get a hang in the battlefield while Gabi is the contrary of his: got all the self-competent in herself, and Reiner aka the one who inherited The Armored Titan is back! The OP is very creepy and I know it's the same artist who did Season 2 ED but I think it's meant to be catchy idk just gotta get used to it I guess? I love how Gabi is very confident in herself to make sacrifices and it went pretty successful to use a dynamic and kill some soldiers there, very well done Gabi. Galliard's titan is almost realistic to look at and the first perspective gun shooting going crazy with all the bullets too! Shit boutta get real good when Zeke turned everyone into titans and idk if it's just me but the production for this one episode is a lot of uncensored and realistically painful to watch the reality of the battle, I'm so excited and scared for Reiner's titan transformation and only a bit of inconsistency in the armored titan animation but I wish the armor was more solid and sharp because it looks like the armor is part of their skin but everything else is so good + Galliard fight comeback is so cool and I'm so excited about seeing more Zeke appearance!! ED can be seen really meaningful, better than the OP I'd say, also Conner looks real fancy with that modernistic clothing.
